After the havoc on Saturday, the dinosaurs from the forest have taken to wandering around the island. Luckily, it seems most of the ones that venture out are the ones not looking for a fight. While on the beach, you might meet with a small, horse-sized sauropod that chews on the grass, or something that looks like an off-brand version of a shoebill sitting on the hotel roof and shrieking. The angry ones, at least, are staying within the forest.

Still, there's more to investigate this week, especially if you'd like to brave going back into the forest. Or, you could always take a breather and lay on the sand for a bit.

[Despite the sudden, unexplainable appearance of... dinosaurs everything seems to be fine inside the resort. None of the doors are big enough for a T-rex to slip through.

But that doesn't explain the commotion coming from the third floor kitchen...]

Mahiru Not Fucking Around

[Mahiru hadn't wanted to face the others at first, not proud of how easily she had snapped into action during the battle. But she can't sit around when Shade is stuck sitting around after ending up in so much pain. So. What is Mahiru doing layering four different thin mesh pink swim coverups from the gift shop? It's armor. What is that big beach umbrella? Well. Good question.]

We have to go back into the forest while we still can. I'm not doing anything stupid, but do you have any better ideas? That's what I thought.

[You can discuss this as a group if you like, hotel stationery pads and oversized chairs around one of the lobby area tables.]

Mahiru Maybe Fucking Around Slightly

[But gathering with the others, finding supplies, all of that takes time. She's got to eat - if she wants to cling to what remains of her humanity, that is. She's got to sleep - if she's going to feel called to action during each moment she spends on her feet. So it is that Mahiru can be found doing... you know, other boring normal things. In a swimsuit on top of a lounge floater in the pool, body entirely dry. Etc.]

[Well. Akutagawa finds himself looking at Mahiru with confusion. He's been his own little bubble - maybe he zoned out a bit after dying.]

Well, certainly not unprepared. Do you really...what is the umbrella for?

Do you see any other sticks to whack enemies with?

[Maybe she should have tried the weapon cache in the basement but. What was that. Didn't see it with her own eyes.]

I'm not going to just snap off a chair leg.

[Whilst she's taken to nesting (quite literally, there's a build-up of twigs in her room) away her wounds, there's something Shade must do - and it involves Mahiru, among others. So she drags herself out to the pool to find her, and waves her down.]

Mahiru!

Oh, no!

[Mahiru scrambles onto her stomach where she can manipulate the pool toy more easily.]

I'm sorry, I thought you were still sleeping! You could have leaned on me if you wanted to come out here!

It's alright. I'm holding up.

[She makes her way to the water's edge, somewhere close enough to reaching distance of Mahiru. At least where they don't have to call out to each other.

Since the incident, she'd been pretty wrapped up in her feelings - of all she dredged up, and the sting of rejection and betrayal from her own. It's only now she's realised the antidote, and she holds out an outstretched palm.

In it sits a rock.

[Karen gives Mahiru's attire the good old raised eyebrow.]

Are you expecting to find another beach?

[Mahiru shrugs her barely protected shoulders.]

Leather jacket is kinda the go-to for improvised bite protection, but didn't see any around here just yet.

[Mahiru looks at the hand, unsure if it's wise for Shade to be pulled in. She has to bring herself up to a full kneeling height to see the palm, that rather than a gesture of physical contact alone, there's a thing being held inside. ...it's a rock. What is this, some kind of special space rock? But Shade isn't offering any explanation, she's just smiling so guilelessly and—Mahiru can't keep it together. Her hand accepts the offering, very tight.]

No, I'm glad. I'm glad you're okay... I'm so, so glad. You were so amazingly brave... [With those bizarre noises, that revealed the true nature of the threat. Mahiru should have been faster... shouldn't have thought "it has nothing to do with me"...] I couldn't ever leave you behind like that.

[What Shade expected was a sudden lightness - the lifting of a weight that generosity brings. She’d been banking on that to make her feel better.

But what is this…guilt?

Is it because she could - and has - so easily left others behind before? Is it because of River and Tulip? It’s sticky. She wants to pull it off, but it won’t give.

Maybe Mahiru made the wrong call.]

I wasn’t being brave, I…should’ve thought about the rest of you. I put Misaki in danger. If it weren’t for you and Sonic…

[ NOT THE KITCHEN leave the kitchen alone

[you know what after the dinosaurs he's going to show up for backup. let's go gamers.]

[Honestly, why put a pool next to the ocean? It just doesn't make any sense to her.]

[She's kinda inherently super miserable but that's too much to unpack.]

Eleanor, right? Don't you want to come in?

[She doesn't want to bother the woman by drawing too much attention to her account of isolation, but...]

[Congrats! Here's a dead body- no, no. There's no dead body. But the kitchen is certainly a mess, and the culprits are currently roaming around the countertop.

Surprise, it's dinosaurs. Small ones. But they're getting into all of your snacks and stuff.]

[She looks at the pool, and then out to the ocean.]

That's right. Mahiro? [So many new names. different, too.] I'm not sure. When you live in the ocean, you spend a lot of time in water already.

[ oh... no dead body...

But at the same time, oh! dinosaurs. Minato's eyes light up in the way one would when seeing a bunch of cute little puppies running around creating a mess, which these dinosaurs basically are.

He steps inside so Gaius and anybody else can come inside without him blocking the way, approaching the nearest dinosaur but not so close that he'd seem threatening. What sort of dinosaurs are these... he probably won't be able to tell very well.

Never mind that, then. More importantly: what are their favorite snacks? ]

It's Mahiru, actually. [No harm done but oof. Hey, she forgot that Eleanor might not care for the water, which is probably worse.]

Really? Huh, I thought you were sealed up in a dome instead of actually swimming... well, it doesn't matter.

They got everywhere eventually. [Mahiru narrows her eyes, as if that would guarantee she saw any other raptor that approached them.]

I don't understand... where they came from. [She wants to think they were sent by a captor; that might be imposing a degree of logic on their environment that no longer exists.] Part of me wants to keep hiding from them forever, but I can't see how we'll ever escape if we do that... so that's why I want to believe in you.

[It probably is stupid to cling to that belief when Shade herself has thought better of it... the floatation device sways in the water a bit, doubtful.]
