intro

You don't remember getting knocked out.
That's the best descriptor for the feeling you experience before you wake up. There's a glittering absence of color to your field of vision, and a sensation that you aren't yourself, you aren't anything in particular. Abruptly, unpleasantly, you wake up in a strange, sunny location. Where that is might vary--laying in a sun chair on the pool deck, draped over the skee-ball machine in the arcade, face down in a cart in the laundry room....or just stretched out in the long, long expanse of sand surrounding the island.
There doesn't seem to be anyone else here, aside from the others who have woken up and have as little clue where they might be as you do. It's a silent, empty island filled with a lot of questions and few clear answers. What you can conclude are a few things: that you don't get hungry or tired, that any wounds you have don't seem to either heal or worsen, and leaving the island doesn't seem to be possible.
Maybe it would be good to meet with the others who have woken up?

I have seen others, though no one with whom I am familiar. I suppose that is to be expected given the circumstances.

( kurumi's quiet. ... in all honesty, she is a viable target. but...
... )
Has this happened to you before?

If the intent is to confuse—which seems likely enough—it would be far better to ensure that none of us know each other ahead of time.

( she smiles brightly- it wouldn't be surprising if he brushed it off as teen idealism. )

[He nods in approval!]
So long as you adhere to that, it will serve you well regardless of whatever troubles we face.

( but... from the looks of it, the crisis already happened. they're just here to see the aftermath. so maybe it won't be hard? )
Oh! I'm Kurumi, by the way. I'm experienced with scouting and stuff, so I can help look around!

Understood. I would suggest taking a more cautious approach until we have a better handle on the situation and the others who have found themselves here.

( that's not what he meant and you know it, girl.
though, kurumi does lean back, looking at the ceiling for a moment. )
I haven't seen anything that could possibly have been the cause of this- but... no signs of the remains, either. No corpses or mass graves... We can't get into the forest- it spits you right back out after a few feet. Something's definitely up, there. And while we're here I think it'd be best to try and clean up some of the carnage- if only because looking at blood everywhere just isn't good for you.

[He sighs in frustration because that ain't his field! he used to have people tell him how that worked and now he doesn't even have the thaumaturge who's going to kill him someday.
and this whole thing smacks of ascians anyway which makes things even more complicated.]
I do hesitate to linger here because of the carnage, but it does seem as though it is the best candidate for a base of operations at the moment.

...I suppose locating cleaning supplies will also be a pressing concern.

( it probably wouldn't hurt to check what's available in the kitchen... if it's a big place like a resort, it would probably have a lot, right? even then, having a stock of what's available is good, especially if they need to ration things out... )

[she seems more capable than she should be. but also, she has a shovel instead of a gunblade.]

( maybe it's just her but blood? the opposite of livable. kurumi stands up from her booth, shovel in hand- and while she can walk confidently, maybe gaius can tell her steps are a bit heavier than a healthy teen girl's should be. )

Are you well? There is no need to push yourself if you are not.
no subject
( for lack of a better word. though... maybe she should be honest?
...
she doesn't know what they need. but if she can fight still, she has to. just in case. )
I'll be fine, I promise.

[zombies don't work like that back home so he's not even going to work it out whenever zombie apocalypses come up.....]
